Across Pacific!
Ok... so here I am in LA!
This is what happened to me in last 15 hrs...
Friday, same working day, waiting for my boss coming into the office until 3pm, recap with boss, rush running out of the office at 5pm, go home have a shower, get everything packed, running to bus stop at 6pm, waiting for bus to the airport.
8.30pm, waiting for boarding, airport was quiet and empty w/ only flight crews and a few passangers. 9pm, the transit passangers got in and finally got the waiting room packed. 9.15pm, got on board, sitting next to an indian couple, the guy was rude to look for magazine in my front sack. Got pissed and gave hime a dirty look. 1 kid in the behind row was crying to another kid for his mom's left of the flight, who left stuff in waiting room and got back to search, and he sobbing and crying and asking the other boy what if the mom couldn't make it back to the flight.. blah blah blah... 5 mins later his mom got back, he blamed mom a bit and released a bit and cried a bit again like the emotion can't be switched off in 1 sec...
Sat 9.40am taipei time, Fri 6.40pm LA time, having had 2 meals w/ a terrible sleep we finally landed in LA. They took my both hand 2nd finger prints and photo and asked me 2 questions (how do you do & what's the purpose of your visit), then issued me a 6 month stay stamp again and let go of me. Uh... quite easy to me to step on the states...
7.40pm, the shuttle finally came to pick me up after a 40 mins waiting. (i guess we chose the wrong company... seems nobody takes prime time but a lot of people go for super shuttle....) The driver asked for the address and asked me if i knew where it is... (uh oh...) then he turned on the light, took out the magnifier, looked up the map, staring at the page for 5 mins... then he gave me an answer...'We'll see!'....
8.20pm, finally got to the apt, the steps lead to a gate, opened up the gate there're more steps... I saw someone running down so I asked him if he knew which one is apt 7... he read thru 1-6 in the ground floor, then 8 in the corner, then he ran to the 2nd floor and read thru 11-15... there's just no 7... so he ran dowstairs again and read thru again, still no 7. Then he went to knock at someone's door, i guess it's the landloard's, and got to know the no 7 is just right the first one on the left hand side up the steps.... ok.. well.. i felt really sorry to that guy who ran around, up and down twice ('to find out the goddamn no 7 for this big-luggage-carrying cute foreign girl coming to this crime city alone at a dark night'... he must have thought in this way), and what he's trying to look for is just right beside me...
8.30pm, I looked down of the doormat, found the gold key, inserted into the lock hole.... hm... it's still locked.. tried again... it's still locked... so i asked the seem-to-be-landloard guy, who was just about to walk upstairs, to come down to help. He walked down w/ his big figure, came to my door, and pulled up the door bit, then the door got opened! Whew... Finally..... (but i guess in this 10 mins w/ 2 guys running around and counting numbers and me shouting if he could wait for me to lift my luggage into the gate, all the neighbors must have been waken up already....)
OK.... so here I am in the house, got my shower done, had some tomato soup, watching tv and relaxing, then i decided to write down my funny 15hrs and share with you guys. Oh you must think I mis-calculated the time... well, actually 15 hrs is just the time difference between taipei and los angeles. So now boys and girls, I'm going to spend my precious 10 day vacation!
Have a good time there too!:)
